 Empowering THE CHURCH IN THAILAND

We are the Powell Family

We are Brandon, Rachel, Lena, Jori and Leo Powell

Empowering the Local Church in Thailand.

WHO WE ARE

The Call

Our hearts were first captured for Thailand when we realized how truly few people know, or really have the opportunity to know, the life-transforming power of Jesus Christ. While praying for God to send workers for the harvest in Thailand, we felt the Holy Spirit reach back toward our hearts to commission us to GO!

The Need

There are so many opportunities in Thailand to partner with the local church and with the Holy Spirit. The work here is not done, and there is need for many more people to join us physically, spiritually, and financially in this journey to bring the peace, power, and fullness of life that is only found in Jesus Christ to the 68+ million Thai people.

Less than 2% of the nation has responded to this Gospel message. In a primarily Buddhist world-view, most people have never even heard of Jesus. Let’s change this together!

The Commission

God is calling our family to invest our lives in sharing the hope and life-giving power of the gospel to the Thai people.

We love Thailand! But there are many who have never heard the gospel. Let's change this together!

WHAT WE DO

THE LAND OF SMILES

The beautiful country of Thailand is nicknamed "The Land of Smiles." And with some of the warmest people on the planet, Thailand as rightfully earned this nickname. Our hearts were captured from the moment we stepped off the plane. These warm, loving people who greeted us with a smile desperately need the hope and life-transforming power of Jesus!

BUDDHISM

To be Thai is to be Buddhist. There is no separation. And in this predominantly Buddhist culture, less than 2% of the population has responded to the gospel message.

The need is obvious. And the harvest is ready! The Thai people are lost in their search for truth. If only they would encounter the love and truth of Jesus Christ, their lives would be forever changed...

Learning the Thai Language.

As we embark on this new journey, the most important goal in our first few years is language learning! In partnering with the Thai church to share the gospel, it is imperative to learn the Thai language. We love the Thai language, and have thoroughly enjoyed our preliminary study. Check out this video to get a little taste of the Thai language!

Engaging the Thai culture.

The Thai culture is warm and easy-going, but very different from that of Western culture. With this in mind, it is imperative to study, learn, and engage the cultural context in which we will be living. In order to partner with the national church in Thailand to share the gospel with the Thai people, we must devote time learning not only the Thai language, but also the Thai culture!

What would a Thai Buddhist’s conclusion be after hearing John 3:16 as the initial presentation from a Christian? “Keep your religion. That’s nice for you, but I am a Thai Buddhist.” This is one of the many vastly different cultural perspectives that we must learn during our lifetime in Thailand.
